Kudos to Sandra on her first ultra

"Roadbunner" runs 51k at Area 51

Sandra M., known to many as "Roadbunner" for her loves of both running and bunnies, finished her first ultramarathon this weekend.

Since this is Sandra, who ran some 15 marathons last year alone, she didn't just find any old "longer than a marathon" run. Instead, she headed out to the Nevada desert for the Extraterrestrial Full Moon Midnight Marathon. As the name indicates, the race starts at midnight and is held on the weekend closest to the full moon. To add to the fun, the race offers a 51K -- since it's near the notorious Area 51.

The area gets the highest number of alien sighting reports, and the government even renamed a stretch of Highway 375 the Extraterrestrial Highway. (Marathon and ultramarathon runners are required to wear reflective clothing and carry or wear a light, so we don't know if they are responsible for some of those alien-sighting reports.)

Sandra has been recovering from a couple leg troubles, but of course she still started the race. She also finished it. And then she went to Vegas. Congratulations, Sandra!
