Sonja beats her time at Ironman Kona

An impressive 10:08 finish

Sonja Wieck might train in the reasonable temperatures of Colorado, but the Punk Rock Racing athlete seems to do just fine in heat, too. Case in point: On Saturday she beat her personal record at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Sonja came out of the water in 1:06:42. Then she biked the hot, windy course in 5:26:36. In the process, she moved up an impressive 14 places to 12th place in her division.

Then she set off on the 26.2-mile run, finishing it in 3:30:16. (For the runners in the audience, that's a Boston qualifying time.)

Sonja finished Kona in a blazing 10:08:44. She even managed to leap in the air as she crossed the finish line, making us wonder if she'll take up the high jump next. Congratulations, Sonja. We can't wait to see the next record you break.
