Sonja wins her age group at Oceanside 70.3

It's a good day for both triathletes and new bikes

The weather was perfect in Oceanside California for the 2014 Ironman Oceanside 70.3 triathlon, the race that is widely considered the official start of the season for triathletes in the United States.

Sure, there was that little earthquake issue on the eve of the race, but that didn’t seem to rattle Punk Rock Racing’s own Sonja Wieck as she continued her winning ways. She took the top spot in her new age group and a top three amateur finish in an extremely competitive field.

Sonja exited the water in 32:21 before heading out on the beautiful and hilly 56-mile  bike course. By the time she rode into T2 after a 2:40:01 bike split, she was in the lead and never looked back. She finished the day with a 1:34:18 half marathon and an overall time of 4:50:27.

Another highlight of the weekend was the unveiling of the new QuintanaRoo PRsix TT Bike. Sonja has been riding their product for years and they were nice enough to invite Punk Rock Racing to attend the media launch of the new line. To say this is an impressive bike is an understatement. This new bike is, hands down, one of the smartest, lightest and aerodynamic bikes on the market today and has established the new gold standard in the sport. Look for a lot of positive media and impressive results from this incredible machine in the near future.

Congratulations to Sonja (and QuintanaRoo) on a successful weekend and an impressive start to 2014. Well done.
